Multiple groups are providing emergency financial assistance to residents affected by the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. Some victims hope there can be a centralized registration to avoid having to run around to different places.

KMB and Long Win Bus earlier announced a donation of two million dollars to help the fire victims of Wang Fuk Court.

This morning, large numbers of residents lined up at the bus stop in Kwong Fuk Estate to register their details and apply for the KMB assistance fund. Each household can receive $1,000.

At the Hong Chi Jockey Club Kwong Fuk Workshop in Kwong Ping House, Tai Po, three charities were also present to register residents and distribute assistance funds. Staff were on site to help people fill out forms. The three organizations together are distributing $3,000 per household.

Resident Mr. Law said, “The procedures are fine. But it’s too scattered—we have to run all over the place. It’s inconvenient, but there’s nothing we can do. Ideally, there would be one big hall where I could sit down, and no matter how many government or non-government subsidies there are, I could apply for them all at once.”
