The Hong Kong government held a seminar to elucidate the "essence" of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Held at the government headquaters, the seminar was attended by Hou Jianguo, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who was accompanied by Chief Executive John Lee. Also there were Zhou Ji, Director of Central Government's Liaison Office in Hong Kong and Deputy Director of the Office of the Central Leading Group for Rural Affairs Zhu Weidong. Attendees came from the political, business and education sectors as well as youth organisations. In his speech, the city leader says Beijing's 15th Five Year Plan sets out important national-level measures supporting Hong Kong's development. Hou Jianguo, meanwhile, suggests that the SAR focus on frontier areas including AI, life science and new energy development to align with the nation's strategic needs.
