China's top legislator Zhao Leji calls for closer ties with New Zealand

Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Zhao Leji has concluded his trip to New Zealand for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation. Zhao met with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon in Auckland. He expressed China's willingness to work with New Zealand to enhance mutual trust and strategic alignment. Efforts will be made to tap into cooperation potentials in sectors like green transformation. Zhao prompted both countries to deepen multilateral cooperation while jointly promoting trade and investment liberalisation as well as regional economic integration. During talks with Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives Gerry Brownlee in Wellington, Zhao called for strengthening multi-level exchanges and interactions among legislative bodies. Brownlee said that the New Zealand Parliament is willing to enhance friendly exchanges with China's National People's Congress and play an active role in promoting bilateral relations.
