Major parts of Northern China began experiencing snowfall with mainland residents heading into cities such as Beijing and Harbin to enjoy the winter festivities.

Located near the northern edge of the nation, a blanket of white covered the forests of the Inner Mongolian city of Ergun -- a scene that captivates all nature sightseers.

A bit further to the south in Qinghai's Xunhua Salar Autonomous County, where visitors will be treated to a unique winter sunrise in a region located some 3,600 metres above sea level.

In the popular winter holiday destinations of Jilin and Heilongjiang, promotional videos have already began flooding mainland social media showing some of the latest holiday activities available in Northeastern China.

Winter facilities such as this ski resort in Jilin's Tonghua city even began offering visitors with smart video recording devices to enhance their skiing experience.

This tourist said he found the device extremely convenient given that he no longer had to carry his camera or mobile phone while skiing, adding that he captured dynamic footage along the way.

In Beijing, close to 150 ski resorts across the capital are ready to welcome a tourism wave from all across the nation.

While not all may be into more physical activities during the winter season, those who enjoy a more relaxing experience can visit this park in Harbin that recently premiered its penguin show, which allows visitors to come into close contact with the birds.
