Foreign Minister Wang Yi has met with Uzbek leaders during his Central Asia tour. Wang said the two countries' cooperation will be strengthened regardless of global shifts.

Wang Yi and Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, held the second strategic dialogue on Friday,

Wang noted China has become Uzbekistan's largest trading partner, and pledged that no matter how the international and regional situation evolves, China will continue to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with Uzbekistan.

Saidov said China is Uzbekistan's most valued strategic partner and noted the two countries share similar worldviews and both uphold the people-centred philosophy.

He praised China for firmly safeguarding the interests of developing countries in international affairs, stating that the world increasingly needs China.

Thanking China's support for Uzbekistan's poverty reduction efforts, Saidov said his country is willing to expand bilateral trade and advance the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

He also expressed his aim to join the International Organization for Mediation, headquartered in Hong Kong, by the end of the year.

A joint statement was signed after their meeting in a bid to foster closer collaboration in green mining, new energy, and other industries.

The document is expected to see deepened cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative while aligning with the "New Uzbekistan" strategy.

Wang Yi met with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the same day.

The president affirmed Uzbekistan's adherence to the one-China principle and said it resolutely opposes "Taiwan independence."
