US President Donald Trump urged his fellow Republicans in Congress Sunday to vote for the release of files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, reversing his earlier resistance to such a move. This as House Speaker Mike Johnson said he believed Trump has nothing to hide.

Speaking on Fox News Sunday, US House Speaker Mike Johnson reiterated Donald Trump had nothing to hide as lawmakers seek to force the release of files related to the sex trafficking investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

US House Speaker Mike Johnson said: "He had nothing to do with it. President Trump has clean hands. He is not worried about it. I talk to him all the time. He has nothing to do with this. He's frustrated that they're turning it into a political issue and it's not surprising because the Democrats have nothing else to talk about. So it'll (discharge petition) be on the floor again next week. I suspect there'll be lots of votes that we'll just get this done and move it on."

A successful vote in the House on the proposed bill would force the Justice Department to release all files and communications related to Epstein as well as any information about the investigation into his death in federal prison.

Republican representative, Kentucky Thomas Massie said: "I think we could have a deluge of Republicans. There could be 100 or more. I'm hoping to get a veto-proof majority on this
legislation when it comes up for a vote. And, you know, the president's been saying this is a hoax. He's been saying that for months."

But after a successful House vote, the bill must then go to and pass the Senate.
