18 people injured after Citybus crash near airport Terminal One

At least 18 people suffered mild injuries after a Citybus crashed into a concrete kerb near the Hong Kong International Airport's Terminal One.  

A section of the area was cordoned off, and the bus driver has been suspended from his duties. 

The incident took place near the airport's Terminal One on Cheong Hong Road at around 3 p.m. today, when a Citybus travelling on the A12 route was suspected to have lost control and crashed into a kerb. 

The vehicle's windshield was shattered with several parts of the bus seen strewn across the road.

A number of signs on the road were also damaged.

More than a dozen injured passengers sat on the side of the road as they were treated by medical personnel.

Some of them required stretchers before they were taken into the ambulance.

Many of the injured said the crash happened all of a sudden.

This woman said the bus maintained a steady speed throughout the ride, and that she never noticed the driver stepping on the brake at any point. 

While this individual who suffered from neck pain after the crash said it happened out of nowhere. 

The injured passengers were sent to North Lantau Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment. 

Authorities are continuing their investigation of the crash.

Meanwhile, Citybus has deployed its staff to the crash site and both hospitals to follow up on the matter, and has already suspended the bus driver from duty.
