The National Games fencing tournament opened at Kai Tak. Hong Kong epee fencer Kaylin Hsieh and sabre star Aaron Ho nabbed bronze and silver respectively. 30-year-old Aaron Ho is the first-ever Hong Kong sabre fencer to reach a National Games final, facing Shandong's Wei Zhenhao. Fencing on the right, Ho struggled to settle early, conceding six unanswered points. But he regained his foothold later on, and jabbed his way back into the bout. Still, the early gap proved too steep. Ho pressed forward, but eventually fell 7-15 as Wei took gold. Even so, Ho's run earned Hong Kong's first-ever National Games silver in men's sabre.
