Hong Kong has clinched its third gold medal at the National Games.

Olympic silver medalist swimmer Siobhan Haughey bagged gold in Shenzhen in women's 200-metre freestyle.

It's not just the 28-year-old's first National Games championship, but also Hong Kong swimming team's maiden gold at the national tournament.

Siobhan's victory adds to Hong Kong's medal tally -- now at three golds and one bronze.

Donning a white swimming cap with the SAR emblem, all eyes are on Siobhan Haughey, taking on lane five, flanked by Guangdong's Li Jiaping and Hubei's Yang Peiqi.

Haughey powered through the first lap with smooth strokes, being the first to touch the wall to turn at the 50-metre mark.

Leading from start to finish, Haughey stretched her advantage in the second turn as she sliced through the water with her kick rhythm sharp and unrelenting.

Closing in on the pink virtual line -- the national record, the green line -- Asia's record, and the orange line -- the world record for the category, before clocking in 1 minute 54.85 seconds.

Beaming -- with a wave to supporters Siobhan Haughey knew she once again proved herself a class above the rest with a National Games gold medal to add to her haul of two silvers and two bronzes at the Olympics.

The swimmer will dive right back on Friday morning for the heats of the women's 100-metre freestyle -- looking to advance to the evening's semifinals.
