The Legislative Council election is on December 7th. The average age of the candidates is around 48 years old. Nearly 30 percent of them are women. Senior government officials have launched videos promoting the election by urging voters to vote in their native dialects. A total of 161 candidates will compete for the 90 seats in the upcoming Legislative Council election. Among those who have registered their age, the youngest person is 31 years old, while the average age is about 48. Twelve of the 51 people running for geographical constituencies reported to be independent or have no party affiliation. 15 females joined the eighth Legco race, including an all-women candidate base in the New Territories South West constituency. Meanwhile, the government continues to urge voters to cast their ballot. But this time, officials spoke in their native dialects. Secretary for Financial services and the Treasury, Christopher Hui and Secretary for Education, Choi Yuk-lin, spoke in Hokkien. Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun appealed to voters of Shandong descent. And Secretary for the Civil Service, Ingrid Yeung reminded voters to make good use of their ballot in Putonghua.
