In the largest cryptocurrency seizure ever recorded globally, a Chinese woman has been sentenced in the UK to 11 years and 8 months in prison.
Qian Zhimin, a 47-year-old Chinese businesswoman, was charged by UK police with illegally obtaining and handling Bitcoin, and she earlier pleaded guilty.
In 2018, UK police conducted a raid on Qian's luxury residence in London and seized devices containing 61,000 Bitcoins, valued at 54 billion Hong Kong dollars.
Qian was not at the property at the time and was finally arrested in April last year.
