China's Ministry of Transport today announced a one-year suspension of special port fees for US-owned ships. The relief in fees applies to ships owned or operated by U.S. enterprises, organisations and individuals. The suspension took effect at 1:01pm on Monday. The ministry also announced a one-year suspension of its probe into how the US Section 301 investigation into mainland trade practices affects the security and development interests of China's shipping industry and related industrial and supply chains. Beijing has also suspended sanctions on US-linked subsidiaries of South Korea's Hanwa Ocean Co Ltd for one year. These measures are in line with the consensus reached during the recent China-US economic and trade talks in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
