According to the Observatory, Super Typhoon Fung-wong will come within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong sometime around noon tomorrow. No.1 standby signal will be issued then. Fung-wong is expected to take a northerly turn when it arrives at the northeastern part of the South China Sea. It is forecasted to be closest to Hong Kong on Wednesday, around 400 kilometres to the east of the city. Local winds are expected to increase later on in Tuesday and early on in Wednesday. The Observatory will take into consideration the storm's distance from Hong Kong and the windspeed in different parts of the city to see if there is a need to issue a higher signal on Tuesday.
