HK public hospitals begin charging mortuary fees next year

Public hospitals in Hong Kong will start charging fees for mortuary next year.
While the first three days remain free, a daily fee of 100 dollars will be charged from the fourth day.
Charges will be calcuated from the date the body is stored in the mortuary.
For unclaimed bodies, the fee will increase to 200 dollars on the 18th day onwards, and rise to 550 dollars after 33 days.
A representative from the funeral industry said the deceased are generally stored in hospital mortuaries for around 20 days before the funeral.
