Vice Premier He Lifeng met with chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, David Solomon, yesterday to welcome the firm's business operations and long-term investment in the country. He, a member of the Politburo, is also director of the Office of the Central Commission for Financial and Economic Affairs. He stated the successful meeting between the China and US heads of states in Busan charted the course for the next phase of economic engagement, emphasising they should act on the common understandings to help businesses from both sides operate with stability and confidence. The vice premier also expressed support for Goldman Sachs' continued presence and expansion, as he signalled commitment to promoting the steady, sound and sustainable development of bilateral trade ties. Solomon said China's economic prospects remain strong and that his company intends to contribute to the "high-quality development of China's capital markets."
