Facial recognition for border crossing in Lo Wu and HK-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge

Starting today, several mainland border ports, including Lo Wu and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, allow passengers to cross the border using facial recognition.

At the Lo Wu border port this morning, many people chose the lane that does not require travel document.

After facial recognition verification, the first gate opens.

Then, fingerprints and facial features are checked. If the information is correct, the second gate opens.

Some travellers using the service said it is faster.

The process is similar to the previously used self-service border crossing, except that no documents need to be presented during the process.
