The National Immigration Administration has announced that starting Wednesday, facial-recognition clearance will be implemented at multiple ports that handle travel between the mainland and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

At mainland border control points including Huanggang, Luohu, Liantang, Futian, Man Kam To, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, mainland residents aged 14 and above who hold a valid Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao with multiple-entry endorsements, as well as Hong Kong and Macao residents holding a valid Home Return Permit, can use the smart e-channel for faster entry and exit.

In addition, starting Wednesday, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the High Speed Rail West Kowloon Station will be designated entry points eligible for the 240-hour visa-free transit policy.

Citizens of 55 eligible countries transiting through these two ports can enter visa-free and stay within the designated areas for up to 240 hours.
