Another batch of candidates joining December Legco election

More people on Saturday registered themselves as candidates in the December Legislative Council election. The nomination period started on October 24th and will end on November 6th. As of Saturday, a total of 148 nomination forms were received. Aaron Bok, the former president of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, will run in the Engineering constituency. Lawmaker Lo Wai-kwok from the Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong,who decided not to run again, came to support Bok. Interestingly, Bok's opponent, Wilton Fok, the associate dean of HKU's faculty of engineering, also received the support of Lo. The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce fields Andrew Yao, vice chairman of the organisation and Ivan Wong, the chamber's standing committee member, to compete in the Commercial (second) constituency. Ip Tsz-kin, a former senior management member at Bank of Communications, will run for the Finance constituency. He will compete against the incumbent legislator, Chan Chun-ying. Simon Lam, the co-ceo of Hong Kong China Pacific Life Insurance Company will run in the Insurance constituency against lawmaker Chan Pui-leung. For the Election Committee constituency, competitors are: legislator Chan Siu-hung, accountant Andrew Fan, whose mother is Rita Fan, the former Legco president, Ng Yuen-ting, a member of West Kowloon Cultural District Authority Board, Lau Ka-keung, CEO of Million Cities Holdings and Alex Fan, a Hong Kong barrister. Meanwhile, DAB legislator, Vincent Cheng, will seek re-elected in the Kowloon West constituency. Other candidates in the constituency are:Kowloon West New Dynamic legislator Scott Leung, Yau Tsim Mong district councillor, Guan Weixi, and Sham Shui Po district councillor, Pong Chiu-fai. In Kowloon East constitutency, the candidates are DAB lawmaker Frankie Ngan, Kwun Tong district councillor, Cheung Pui-kong, FTU legislator Tang Ka-piu and Kwun Tong district councillor, Leung Sze-wan. On a radio programme, chief secretary for administration Eric Chan reminds residents to vote on the December 7th poll day. Chan said the government's ideal KPI for the election is that all voters will cast their ballot on the day.
