Beach volleyball matches draw crowds, as HK's first National Games event

Hong Kong is co-hosting the National Games for the first time, with beach volleyball leading the local schedule at Victoria Park.

This marks the first event of the 15th National Games in Hong Kong. 

The torch relay will take place on Sunday.

Special traffic arrangements will be implemented in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island from tomorrow. 

The matches took place in a purpose-built beach volleyball court at Victoria Park.

Fujian and Shanxi teams featured in a women's Group A opening clash.

Cheering during the thrill of the moment, were a group of primary school students.

Captivated by the competition, this boy praised the players for their display of team spirit. 

This girl said the atmosphere was filled with excitement and glee, as rhythmic chants echoed across the venue.

Among the spectators was a tourist from Xinjiang.

She also liked the vibes and the fact that everyone was engaged and cheering along. 

Fujian defeated the Shanxi 2 team in straight sets.

This team player from Fujian team praised the quality of the sand, which she said was on par with international standards.

She said it was a key factor in her ability to perform optimally. 

The 15th National Games is co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

Eight sports events will be staged in Hong Kong, with volleyball being first.
