President Xi congratulates Cheng Li-wun's win in KMT chair election

President Xi Jinping congratulated Cheng Li-wun, who was elected chairperson of the Chinese Kuomintang party. Cheng won the election in Taiwan with just over 50 percent of the vote.
Xi expressed his expectations for the Communist Party and Kuomintang to strengthen their common political foundation, and unite the vast majority of people in Taiwan to deepen exchange and cooperation, boost common development, and advance national reunification.
Cheng expressed gratitude in her reply to Xi's message.
