Observatory may issue T3 directly on Monday

Tropical Cyclone Fengshen will enter within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong on Sunday. The observatory will consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No.3 directly on Monday instead of the Standby Signal No.1.

According to the present forecast, Fengshen will be closest to the territory on Tuesday. Depending on the intensity of Fengshen, the distance of the gale force winds from Hong Kong and the change in local wind conditions, weather authorities will assess the need of upgrading the warning signal by then.
