China's Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao said the recent fluctuations in Sino-U.S. trade ties were mainly attributed to Washington's intensive restrictive measures rolled out after Madrid talks.
In a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook, Wang urged the U.S. to work with China to find ways to address issues through dialogue and consultation on an equal footing.
Cook said Apple will deepen its cooperation with China, step up investment, and participate in the country's high-quality development.
In another development, finance chiefs from the Group of Seven were mulling joint rare-earth response to diversify suppliers, after Beijing tightened its grip on the exports of critical minerals.
The countries agreed to coordinate and engage with Chinese counterparts to seek some short-term solutions.
