Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro criticised US intelligence and Donald Trump as the US president escalated his treats against Venezuela, having admitted using the CIA in covert operations there.
The US military has carried out strikes on suspected drug cartel boats off the coast of the South American country and Trump is not ruling out military action on Venezuelan soil.
"Not war, just peace.", A clear message from Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
"No war just peace and the people of the United States. Please, please, please, please."
Maduro telling his politicians there is no need for conflict in the Americas as he lashed out at Donald Trump's admission that the CIA are operating in his country.
"Why did you authorise the CIA to go into Venezuela?" A reporter asked US President Donald Trump
"I authorised it for two reasons really. Number one, they have emptied their prisons into the United States of America," Trump replied.
Another journalist wondered What the next step in this war on cartels could be and if Trump was considering options, are you considering strikes on land?
"Well I don't want to tell you exactly, but we are certainly looking at land now because we've got the sea very well under control. We've had a couple of days where there isn't a boat to be found. Then that I view that as a good thing, not a bad thing, but we had tremendous amounts coming in by boats, by very expensive boats. You know they have a lot of money," Trump answered.
Defence Chief Pete Hegseth posted shots of a strike on an alleged drug cartel boat which killed six people.
Lawmakers on both side of the House have questioned the legality of this while Venezuela has insinuated Trump wants to force regime change and take control of the South America country's natural resources.
China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said: "China opposes the threat or use of force in international relations and opposes external interference in Venezuela's domestic affairs under any pretext.
"We oppose moves that undermines peace and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean. China supports the efforts of combating cross-border crimes through stronger international cooperation and opposes the US unilateral and excessive enforcement operations against other country's vessels."
"Does CIA have authority to take out Maduro?" was another questioned posed to President Trump.
"Oh I don't want to answer a question like that. That's a ridiculous question for me to be given. Not really a ridiculous question, but wouldn't it be a ridiculous question for me to answer?" Trump said, ADDING "But I think Venezuela is feeling heat, but I think a lot of other countries are feeling heat."
Trump turning up the temperature on Maduro who was already coming under pressure after his country's opposition leader Maria Corina Machado won the Nobel Peace Prize last week.
