Torrential rain flooded central and eastern Mexico in recent days, leaving at least 64 dead and 65 missing.

Poza Rica, in the state of Veracruz, was one of the most affected towns.

Some houses were completely destroyed, especially those built on the banks of the breached rivers.

Others were heavily damaged by flooding or landslides.

On Monday, Poza Rica and dozens of other communities remained without running water and electricity.

Thousands of military personnel have been deployed across the region.

According to early official estimates, around 100,000 homes have been affected.
