North Korea held a massive military parade attended by a number of foreign leaders to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the ruling Workers' Party.

The parade started Friday night in the capital Pyongyang.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Vietnam's top leader To Lam, and former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev attended the event.

Some of the country's latest weapons, including long-range strategic cruise missiles and drone launch vehicles, were unveiled.

Special prominence was given to "Hwasong-20," a yet-to-be-tested intercontinental ballistic missile that was described by state media as North Korea's "most powerful nuclear strategic weapon system."

Kim said in an address that he would further enhance defence capacity and that the military should continue to "grow into an invincible entity that destroys all threats."
