A 63-year-old resident at Ching Tin Estate in Tuen Mun was found to have died at his flat after being absent from work for multiple days. His 64-year-old bed-ridden wife was found conscious and unscathed in the unit.

At about 3 p.m., the police received a report from the 69-year-old brother-in-law of the deceased, saying he had received a call saying that his brother-in-law had been absent from work, and no one answered the door when he went to visit.

Rescuers later broke into the house and found the man dead on the bed.

His disabled wife was sent to the hospital for examination.

It is understood that the deceased did not have any chronic illness or mental illness and was able to take care of himself. His wife meanwhile has suffered from Parkinson's disease and cervical degenerative spondylitis since five years ago and has needed follow-up treatment at a government hospital. She is unable to to take care of herself, and the deceased was her caretaker.

Some residents of the same estate expressed regret after learning of the incident.

The police inspected their flat and found no suicide note. More investigations are under way.
