Chief Executive John Lee attended Hong Kong media's National Day celebration event and expressed his hope that the press could showcase Hong Kong's unique charm to the world and opportunities that the city presents through reporting.
Zhou Ji, Director of Beijing's Liaison Office in Hong Kong, also attended the event. He says in his speech that the press is meant to "document a new era and write a new chapter" of the city.
About 500 guests attended the event, including government officials, deputies of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference,representatives of the Office of the National Security Office in Hong Kong and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.
