For the first time, all eight public universities in Hong Kong made it to the World University Rankings 2026 by Times Higher Education.
Five Hong Kong universities were ranked among the top 100.
The University of Hong Kong rose two spots from last year, and staked the 33rd position -- also the highest-ranked institution in the city.
Chinese University and the University of Science and Technology were ranked 41st and 75th respectively in the world. PolyU came in at 83rd. Baptist University was placed in the 201 to 250 group, and for the first time, Education and Lingnan Universities made the list.
The University of Oxford in the UK has topped the list for ten consecutive years, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the U.S. while Princeton University and Cambridge University tied for third place.
The highest-ranked in Asia were Tsinghua University and Peking University, coming in at 12th and 13th respectively.
