French President Macron to name new prime minister in the next 48 hours

The outgoing French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said in a television interview Wednesday that he expects President Emmanuel Macron will name the country's new prime minister in the next 48 hours.
If Lecornu's assumption proves correct, the naming of a new prime minister would push France away from other option available to Macron that could plunge the country into even greater uncertainty.
They include dissolving parliament's powerful lower house to trigger a new legislative election, which backfired on Macron the last time he did that, stacking the National Assembly with opponents of the French leader.Macron could also resign, which he previously ruled out and Lecornu cautioned against.
Lecornu's interview left more questions than it answered about how Macron intends to dig France out of the protracted political crisis that has gripped the country since the June 2024 dissolution of the National Assembly.
