Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau said 330,000 doses had been administered in the first two weeks of the government's seasonal influenza vaccination program, a 9.4 percent increase over the same period last year.

Lo was speaking while attending a Legislative Council vaccination event this morning. A vaccination outreach team from the Department of Health visited the Legislative Council to vaccinate Legislative Council members.

Legislative Council President Andrew Leung led over 50 members in receiving influenza vaccines and booster doses of the COVID vaccine.

Lo said since the start of the school year, influenza outbreaks have occurred in over 250 schools, with nine children hospitalized due to severe complications.

He noted that the summer and winter influenza seasons may overlap and urged high-risk groups to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

The seasonal influenza vaccination program began at the end of last month, offering free vaccinations to eligible patients, seniors, and those with chronic illnesses at over a thousand locations.
