Salla Tuominen, the President of Zonta International was recently in Hong Kong.
Zonta is an international advocacy organisation for women's rights with 26,000 members spanning 65 countries and regions.
Tuominen said in TVB's Straight Talk programme that violence - other than physical violence - is one of the biggest challenges facing women.
There are all kinds of mental violence, bullying, putting down, financial violence, not being able to use money in the family, for example, for other partners' needs, or very much restricting how the money in the family is spent with.
Well, sexual violence goes to the same category as physical violence.
They are not something that we can identify on the streets.
But globally, one third of women, one third of all women, have been somehow faced gender-based violence.
It is a huge huge problem.
Tuominen, who came from Finland, said some of Zonta's projects in the region in which Hong Kong belongs are related to gender-based violence.
Other projects are related to climate change, child marriage, as well as education, and how to make the communities take more responsibility locally on such matters.
