There are plenty of Mid-Autumn activities going on even though the day-off for most people is tomorrow.
For people who wish to see lanterns during the Mid-Autumn Festival, Victoria Park is a spot not to miss. From dolphins to pandas, the lanterns are created in various shapes and colours.
A mid-autumn festival tradition game -- lantern riddles -- is available for the public to play.
While the lanterns will be lit up at 6:30 p.m., a lot of visitors come to the site during the day. Tourists say they hope they can learn more about the festival.
ANNA, Tourist: "Because I come from somewhere different, I think it will be really adventurous and a great experience to see that (the festival). I think it will be really cool to come here. I would describe it (the festival) as colourful because there are a lot of lights and very beautiful."
SUNIL BISHT, Resident: "I (have been) living here for the last 14 years. I also enjoy (the festival). I have two kids, so I want to show (them) the culture."
Some residents said they will bring overseas friends to the mid-autumn celebrations, hoping to promote the festival.
An aspect of the Mid-Autumn Festival is about family reunions, and many would choose to eat out at restaurants.
This Chinese restaurant, which offers festive meal packages, said its reservation rate has increased by five percent compared to the previous mid-autumn. Its manager said all tables had been fully reserved as early as two weeks ago.
The festive celebration has been extended to public transport.
Members of the public can enjoy free tram rides throughout the day. A few tram routes will also provide extra service hours. Another free transport option for the day is light rail.
To accommodate passengers, MTR has increased its train service frequency since the afternoon, and many urban lines will operate overnight.
Despite the weather being cloudy during the day, the observatory says the public can still see a bright moon over the festival period.
