Hong Kong holds "Routes World" aviation convention

The 30th edition of the "Routes World" aviation convention was held at Hong Kong International Airport and brought together over 250 leading airlines from more than 115 countries.
It was the first time that Hong Kong hosted such event, consolidating the SAR's position as a global aviation hub.
Through exhibitions, forums and networking events, the event set the stage for thousands of industry representatives to explore global aviation development and buoy the recovery of tourism.
The HKIA has signed two memorandums of understanding with partners from Indonesia and the mainland city of Wuhan to ramp up information exchange and project collaboration.
Introducing the blueprint of transforming the Meilan airport into a regional gateway, a delegation from Haikou, capital of Hainan, has launched acitivities to promote the province's rich tourism resources, subsidy policy and new opportunities under its free trade port system.
Hainan's travel facilitation measures were highlighted, including 144-hour visa exemptions for tourist groups from Hong Kong and Macao, and visa-free entry for citizens of 86 countries.
Delegates have outlined the vision to establish Haikou as a premier destination for high-profile entertainment events. American pop singer Katy Perry is slated to perform in the city next month as part of her Lifetimes Tour. A number of international sporting events are also under preparations.
