South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Thursday ordered a thorough crackdown on discriminative protests, which he says have tarnished the nation's image and harmed economic prospects.

Various right-wing and nationalist groups in Seoul have staged frequent anti-foreigner rallies under the new visa-free entry regime for Chinese tourists travelling in groups.

Lee warned "hate speech" and "radically discriminative rallies" are utterly harmful and must be completely eradicated.

He called on people to be grateful and welcome Chinese tourists.
