HK marks launch of Northern Link project that to be completed in 2034

The MTR Corporation held a ceremony to mark the launch of the Northern Link project.
In attendance were Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan and Chairman of MTR Corporation Rex Auyeung, among others.
The Northern Link project comprises two sections. The main line, which is the first part, consists of five stations -- Kwu Tung, Kam Sheung Road, San Tin, Ngau Tam Mei and Au Tau.
The railway operator expects the whole project tol be completed in 2034 when the main land and spur line will begin operations simultaneously.
Carl Devlin, Capital Works Director of MTR Corporation said, "We have very stringent requirements in all our contracts. We expect our contractors and subcontractors to comply with the specifications set in the contracts as well as demonstrating that they meet the relevant standards that are appropriate for the type of work that they're doing."
