At least 36 dead in an Ethiopian church collapse

A collapse at a church under construction in Ethiopia killed at least 36 people and injured scores of others.
The accident happened in Amhara, northern Ethiopia, as worshippers gathered for an annual event celebrating St. Mary.
Many worshippers were reported to have climbed up the wooden scaffolding to see a ceiling mural when the support structure collapsed. Victims included children and elderly people.
A local hospital is seeking help from the Red Cross for more than 100 of those injured.
