National Day Races draw crowds to Sha Tin

Sha Tin Racecourse came abuzz on National Day as it hosted a special race meeting with free admission to the public.
The heat from the blazing sun did little to dampen the enthusiasm of racegoers.
Many came prepared -- with umbrellas and hats at the ready -- to enjoy the day at the racecourse. The first race began at 1 p.m.
No. 5 Fast Network ridden by Alexis Badel clinched the National Day Cup in race 7 -- the highlight of the day coming with a 4.2 million-dollar prize purse.
To celebrate the 76th anniversary of the National Day, selected food and merchandise inside the racecourse were offered at 76 percent of the original price.
The first 760 winners in a Jockey Club app game received an abalone lucky bag.
