As night fell, anticipation built for Hong Kong's National Day fireworks display which is set to light up Victoria Harbour shortly -- at 8 p.m.
Crowds already thronged the Tsim Sha Tsui harbourfront in the late afternoon, hoping to stake out prime positions to view the fireworks.
Some photo enthusiasts set up the long lenses in a bid to capture the perfect burst.
This year's National Day fireworks show will feature eight themed segments and last 23 minutes.
Among the patterns to be shown are the Hong Kong-born panda twins and motifs inspired by the National Games.
