National Day reception in Beijing attended by HK, Macao and Taiwan representatives

Beijing held a National Day reception with about 760 representatives from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese in attendance.

The reception was held in the Great Hall of the People in the capital and was jointly held by the General Office of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. 

In his speech, Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, highlighted the need to consolidate and develop a broader patriotic united front and implement the principle of "One Country, Two Systems" in a comprehensive, accurate and unswerving manner.

On the Taiwan issue, Wang noted how it is necessary to adhere to the one-China principle and the "1992 Consensus", promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and resolutely oppose Taiwan separatist sentiments and external interference.
