2 local drivers arrested for allegedly offering illegal ride-hailing services

Police arrested two men on suspicion of offering illegal ride-hailing services with uninsured vehicles.

Police officers disguised themselves as passengers during the operation and boarded two private cars in Chai Wan.

The two local male drivers, aged 33 and 44, were arrested after arriving at their destination. 

For the offence of offering illegal ride-hailing services, offenders are liable to a fine of 10,000 dollars and imprisonment for six months upon the first conviction, and a fine of 25,000 dollars and imprisonment for one year after committing the offence the second time.
