Parking meter fee raised to 16 dollars an hour

Starting from today, the charge for metered parking spaces will be raised to 4 dollars per 15 minutes. This marks the first parking meter fee adjustment in 31 years.
The new charge took effect at 10 a.m. Under the new charging system, drivers must pay 4 dollars to park for 15 minutes instead of the previous 2 dollars. This means each parking hour will cost 16 dollars.
Meanwhile, the parking meter fees for coaches, trucks and buses remain unchanged. The Transport and Logistics Bureau said the adjustment aims to optimise the use of limited parking resources.
The city had about 20,000 metered parking spaces as of the end of 2024.
