Danish officials held a press conference to address the drones that flew over four of the country's airports overnight on Wednesday and into Thursday.
They said that they did not have information to name a specific actor but the drone resembled a model of hybrid warfare seen elsewhere in Europe.
Finn Borch, head of the Danish Security Intelligence Service, did warn, though, of the possibility of Russian involvement.
He said the risk of Russian espionage and sabotage was high.
Borch said it was important to increase Denmark's own capacity to develop drones at an "unbelievably fast" pace.
The drone sightings began shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday and ended just before 1 a.m. on Thursday.
Flights were halted for several hours at Aalborg Airport in northern Denmark, which also serves as a military base.
Moscow's embassy in Denmark rejected claims of Russian involvement.
