Hong Kong is getting back to normal, after being battered by Super Typhoon Ragasa for nearly two days.

The Observatory cancelled all tropical cyclone warning signals at 11:20 a.m.

The city, however, was left with a trail of destruction.

Powerful storm Ragasa left Hong Kong with many scenes of destruction.

Plenty of trees were knocked down.

Branches fell over a footpath in Kowloon Tong, and pedestrians had to walk on traffic lanes.

A path in Wang Tau Hom was blocked by collapsed trees.

Workers raced to clear the street.

A wall outside La Salle Primary School was damaged by the typhoon, with bricks scattered all over the place.

Only primary five and six students could attend school physically today, while others had online lessons at their homes.

On the island side, a tree on this retaining wall was knocked down.

The branches on Bonham Road had to be lifted with a crane.

Traffic at the site was disrupted.

This student said he left home five to ten minutes earlier than usual to allow more time for commuting.

However, he said the situation was not as poor as he had expected.

Another big tree fell victim to the typhoon outside of Sai Ying Pun MTR station, and had to be moved away with heavy machinery.

Tseung Kwan O was another hit-hard area.

A section of the cycling track along the promenade was destroyed by surging waves yesterday.

Glass doors of some restaurants nearby were also shattered, resulting in many damaged items such as chairs, cushions and table umbrellas.

Ivan Ho, chairman of the Harbourfront Commission said there are 26 sea-facing areas in Hong Kong.

He said authorities are looking into strengthening the designs according to each site's geographical features, so as to lessen future harm by storm surge.

As development in the harbour may be limited by law, he suggested the creation of a buffer zone that could reduce the damage by sea water.
