A man was seen standing on a split type air conditioner to fix the machine as Super Typhoon Ragasa raged around him.
This video shows a man standing on a split type air conditioner during the storm. The man seemed to be trying to hold onto the frame of the air conditioner to prevent it from being blown away. Another man offered him help from the unit.
Throughout the video, the man placed himself in a risky situation.
The affected unit is in a residential building in Ho Man Tin. Police said they had received a report from a 91-year-old man at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, saying his air conditioner was positioned in a dangerous spot. Authorities said they had temporarily cordoned off the area.
The unit is now under maintenance.
An engineer says most air conditioners' supporting frames can survive T10 storms. He says the frame is often connected by at least four screws, and workers should also install screw mould as well as spring washers.
With such reinforcement, the engineer says it is rare for air conditioners to be blown away.
