Talkshow host Jimmy Kimmel returned to late-night television after a nearly week-long suspension, saying he was not trying to joke about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
He also said it was not his intention to blame any specific group for the actions of "a deeply disturbed individual."
Kimmel further thanked the people who supported him, including people who don't like him but stood up for his right to speak, including Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
Finally he pulled no punches when it comes to the topic of free speech, saying " A government threat to silence a comedian the president doesn't like is anti-American. That's anti-American."
