The MTR Corporation says Super Typhoon Ragasa has caused fallen trees in exposed rail sections with damaged cables and power trips reported.

Because of that, the rail giant is expecting lengthy inspections and repairs at affected sections.

Stations having reports of fallen trees include areas near Hung Hom Station and University Station along the East Rail Line and parts of the light rail.

While train service continued with limited operations along non-affected sections, the MTRC urges the public not to rush to stations.

To expedite repair efforts, the MTRC says that over 20 engineering trains and staff have been on standby and are ready to be mobilised.
