According to Danish police, drones that shut the country's main airport on Monday appeared to have been flown by a capable operator seeking to demonstrate certain abilities.

No suspects have yet been identified.

Airports in Copenhagen and Oslo were shut for hours after drones appeared in their airspace, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded as flights were diverted.

Meanwhile, the EU's cybersecurity agency said the airport disruptions that affected automated check-in systems in recent days were caused by a ransomware attack.

Last Friday, check-in systems were knocked out at London Heathrow and the Berlin and Brussels airports.
