Flood-prone districts gearing up vis-a-vis Ragasa

With Ragasa expected to bring storm surges, residents and businesses in flood-prone districts including Tai O are on high alert.
The Drainage Services Department brought sandbags to residents and merchants in the morning. Police officers also assisted in taking supplies to those in need. Some shopkeepers have laid out water barriers.
The Observatory predicts that the coastal water level will generally rise to 3.5 to 4 metres above the chart datum tomorrow -- which refers to the water surface serving as origin of tidal levels.
Apart from Tai O, authorities have also set up flood prevention facilities at flood-prone blackspots, including Lei Yue Mun and Sam Mun Tsai in Tai Po.
