Some members of the public say they are prepared to brace themselves for Super Typhoon Ragasa. The storm is described as the strongest typhoon in the northwest Pacific so far this year.

This supermarket in Causeway Bay was fairly busy around noon. As Ragasa's impact on Hong Kong is expected to span over three days, many residents have decided to stock up on food.

Most vegetables are already out of stock at this supermarket. A long queue of customers waited to pay for their groceries. A similar scene at a bakery shop.

PEIYU, Resident:"We did a bit of meal plan for what we want to cook this week and then just getting fresh produce, like bell peppers and fresh vegetables and yoghurts. Not too much canned food, but that might be a good idea."

While some say they understand why people hoard food to prepare for a super typhoon, they themselves do not think it is necessary.

Apart from food, some said their families chose to stock up on duct tapes.

ALEX, Resident:"Last time, it broke our windows in the living room."

An engineer reminds people to secure their windows amid a storm.

LO KOK-KEUNG, Chartered Mechanical Engineer:"(Use) a (piece of) long paper, make it a long tube and wrap around the four edges of the window and then close the window rigidly. Do it in this way can prevent glass from shattering."

Lo said the key is to reduce windows' vibration.
