Super Typhoon Ragasa continues to barrel closer to the coast of Guangdong.
The Hong Kong Observatory is set to issue the Standby Signal No.1 around noon.
The weather will likely deteriorate rapidly on Tuesday, and winds may reach hurricane force offshore and on high ground on Wednesday.
CLP says it has installed flood-prevention equipment at generator switch rooms and substations in areas with a higher risk of flooding.
The power company has also trimmed trees that could collapse and interfere with overhead power lines.
HK Electric says it has prepared additional generators and reinforced flood-prone substations with flood barriers, drainage pumps with monitoring and alarm systems.
